The Striped Bird is both Environmentally Friendly and Color friendly for those who love bold, bright colors. Created from paper mache, consisting of recycled newspapers, wire and coat hangers and then primed with several coats of gesso. Happy, fun colors including Fuchsia pink, turquoise green, black and white are used to give this bird whimsy and sass. The bird's wings have been made from can tops and broken coat hanger pieces and the beak cut from an old can. The bird sits on a base of salvaged wood and a variety of Found Objects have been scattered around the 4 corners of the wood to add an unexpected dimension. Repurposed pull tabs encircle the bird's legs and resemble a bird's nest. Twigs frame the 4 sides and give it extra rustic detail. Between the vibrant colors, the bird's nest made from pull tabs, the broken twigs and distressed Found Objects, this mixed media piece is full of surprises at every glance.
