As a woman, I know first hand how we all struggle to juggle things and feel our best. We put others first and tend to struggle with self confidence, yet heralding the wonders of others around us.
This piece, created during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, celebrates "radical self love." In feeling our best, we become Queens of our own domain. We are all Goddesses and we need to celebrate ourselves. So many women face challenges in their family life, their work life and/or with their health, yet they keep on going because others depend on them. This piece is to let women know, I see you, I support you, I honor you, I respect you and I celebrate you. You are all amazing and I salute you! Let this piece be a reminder to love and value yourselves as much as you love and value others.
About this piece: The paper collage/bra is the center piece of this mixed media composition. Made from recycled cardboard and covered in paper collage made from old magazines. Found objects such as washers, pull tabs, metal scraps, wire and broken coat hangers give the bra extra strength, definition and character. American flags, pink ribbons and Queen crowns are placed around the composition to reinforce female royalty. The piece is framed in twigs stained white to add further detail and definition.
