There are so many brave women who are full of True Grit and display incredible strength. This piece is dedicated to them and all the challenges they face, including Breast Cancer. Ann, Randy, Sunny, Diane, Sara, McKenzie, Angela, Mary, Lauren and Leslie Ann, this piece is for you to celebrate your fighting spirit and your braveness. I can't walk in your shoes, but I can cheer you on and celebrate you through Art. There are so many, many more women out there facing health issues and although I don't know them personally, I honor their bravery.
The Paper Collage Bra/Bikini Top is the centerpiece of this composition. Made from recycled cardboard and covered in a paper collage crafted from recycled magazines. The only two words on the Bra are BOLD and STRENGTH. Found Objects adorn the Bra and give it an extra fortification. Items used include wire, metal scraps, pull tabs, wire, washers and bottle caps. Elsewhere on the canvas, there are American Flags and Pink Ribbons made from wire and metal scraps. Key words such as PROMOTE, ELEVATE and MAKE A DIFFERENCE are enhanced by an array of Found Objects including keys, washers, wire and nails. The piece is framed in Twigs stained white to add a finished look to the canvas.
