You will never find a more joyful Bird Shack than this “Purple Passion Shack.” What once was street worn wood now serves as the colorful base of this piece. Painted grape purple and white, the Shack itself is a delight with red and magenta pink flowers made from washers and wire adorning the bottom edge. On either side of the Shack, smashed bottle caps have been added for texture and painted in bright red and pink. The sassy bird that is the focal point of this piece is created from recycled cardboard and covered in paper collage. The bird’s wing, beak and feathers are made from a bottle cap, wire and a old can. A sun made from an old washer and some wire add extra brightness.
The turquoise and white roof has a variety of interesting found objects added to it including metal scraps, a wire clip, some pull tabs and a tire balancer. An old paint brush handle is given a fresh coat of vivid paints and serves as the chimney.
Reclaimed wooden dowels covered in paper collage and wire add extra pizzazz and height to the Bird Shack.
This is one of my favorite pieces and I guarantee every time you view it, you will discover a fun new detail.
